Description

Praise for Ruth Ware’s instant New York Times, USA TODAY, and Los Angeles Times bestseller:

“So many questions....Until the very last page! Needless to say, I could not put this book down!” —Reese Witherspoon

“Once again the author of The Woman in Cabin 10 delivers mega-chills.” —People

“Missing Big Little Lies? Dig into this psychological thriller about whether you can really trust your nearest and dearest.” —Cosmopolitan

From the instant New York Times bestselling author of blockbuster thrillers In a Dark, Dark Wood and The Woman in Cabin 10 comes a chilling new novel of friendship, secrets, and the dangerous games teenaged girls play.

On a cool June morning, a woman is walking her dog in the idyllic coastal village of Salten, along a tidal estuary known as the Reach. Before she can stop him, the dog charges into the water to retrieve what first appears to be a wayward stick, but to her horror, turns out to be something much more sinister…

The next morning, three women in and around London—Fatima, Thea, and Isa—receive the text they had always hoped would never come, from the fourth in their formerly inseparable clique, Kate, that says only, “I need you.”

The four girls were best friends at Salten, a second-rate boarding school set near the cliffs of the English Channel. Each different in their own way, the four became inseparable and were notorious for playing the Lying Game, telling lies at every turn to both fellow boarders and faculty. But their little game had consequences, and as the four converge in present-day Salten, they realize their shared past was not as safely buried as they had once hoped…

Atmospheric, twisty, and with just the right amount of chill to keep you wrong-footed, The Lying Game is told in Ruth Ware’s signature suspenseful style, lending itself to becoming another unputdownable thriller from the Agatha Christie of our time.

This book was extremely repetitive. I felt it continued to say the same thing over and over again.

Ruth Ware does it again! She has never disappointed me yet with her books! By far my favorite author! The title itself is what you should expect when reading, who’s lying?

I have no idea how this author is getting so high reviews! The plot is so easy to guess, it’s predictable and the story is so flawed,so why anyone wants to continue reading and yet she gets to publish again and again!

I’ll start by saying I really love her books. I’ve read all or almost all of them, and I was expecting this to be great as well. And then…it just wasn’t. I always enjoy her writing style, so it wasn’t a completely awful experience the whole way through, but it took me FOREVER to finish it, and that’s saying something. The premise of the story I definitely liked—old friends from a creepy boarding school that have a deep, dark secret & have to return as adults? Awesome, sign me up. But then it just dragged & dragged…and dragged some more. I was bored with the story, the characters, the setting (I really thought there’d be more actual danger than there was), all of it. There were twists, sure, but nothing very interesting to me. If it had ended with a bang or some thrilling, crazy action, I’d have forgiven this book, but even the “climax” was dull to me. Like I said, I really tried to like it but I just couldn’t get into it.

This book was my first Ruth Ware book and I totally recommend it. Besides the cursing it was really good. I would love to see Salten if it really was a place in England. But it’s not. I loved the twists and turns this book gave me chills as I read it.
