Description

From the beloved author of the #1 New York Times bestsellers Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven comes his most critically acclaimed novel yet—a stunningly original tale of love: love between a man and a woman, between an artist and his mentor, and between a musician and his God-given talent.

Narrated by the voice of Music itself, the story follows Frankie Presto, a war orphan born in a burning church, through his extraordinary journey around the world. Raised by a blind guitar teacher in Spain and gifted with a talent to change people’s lives—using six mysterious blue strings—Frankie navigates the musical landscape of the twentieth century, from the 1950s jazz scene to the Grand Ole Opry to Elvis mania and Woodstock, all the while searching for his childhood love.

As he becomes a famous star, he loses his way, until tragedy steals his ability to play the guitar that had so defined him. Overwhelmed by his loss, Frankie disappears for decades, reemerging late in life for one spectacular yet mystifying farewell.

Part love story, part magical mystery, The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto is Mitch Albom at his finest, a Forrest Gump-like epic about one man’s journey to discover what truly matters and the power of talent to change our lives.

Mr. Ablom wrote from such an unusual perspective. It drew me in and kept me fascinated and wanting for more. It was very touching. Music, at least in my experience, opens and enlarges one’s heart. I highly recommend this read!

This book is a remarkable story that touched my very soul. I’m 63 years old, and it is my opinion, that the older a person gets, the more the lessons this story teaches hit home. The book itself is an entertaining story, and I believe anyone who reads it will enjoy it. But for people who have acquired a certain wisdom that can only come from aging, it is my opinion that they will be moved like I was. Like Frankie Presto, when we reflect on our lives, we will recall great burdens as well as great triumphs. But most of all, it is my hope that we will recall the great love we received from family, friends, children, and lovers. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Frankie Presto is different from Albom’s other books but it contains that unique power to make the reader think, reflect and grow. From one movement of Frankie’s life to the next the reader is drawn in - to learn about music, musicians, and life. Inspiring.

I wish all audiobooks were read so magnificently as a story like this. Mitch Albom tells his tale so believable with real cast of characters. Reminiscent of Forest Gump ...in Frankie’s interactions with historical musicians. Absolutely LOVED this audiobook!

To say that I simply enjoyed this book would be an understatement. This book was fantastic. I am not into music, but due to the way the author describes the musical numbers in the book and their importance to the overall story, I found myself searching for them on YouTube, and when I found clips of them them they did not disappoint. I read this book in less than a day. I could not put it down.
